Getting through the 'Beast from the East'

Anyone who hoped the worst of the winter was behind will have been very badly mistaken with the arrival of the so-called 'Beast from the East', a surge of freezing cold air from northern Siberia, bringing with it snow and ice.

If you have spent the last few months following all the advice on how to keep warm and stay healthy during cold weather, then keep doing what you're doing to see yourself through this bitterly cold spell.

If, however, you're not sure what you should or shouldn't be doing, don't worry. One of our leading local doctors has put together a few handy tips that we should all be able to follow.

There are a couple of extra bits of advice for those people who might feel the cold particularly keenly, such as people with respiratory conditions i.e. asthma, COPD.
