In September 2015 Carers' Hubs were launched in Aldershot, Farnborough and Yateley. These are designed to be one-stop shops at which carers can receive information and guidance both to support their own needs and those of the person they care for.
The hubs were set up by the Princess Royal Trust for Carers, which works with a range of organisations to share expertise in areas such as the law, cooking and domestic safety.
Agencies which attend include: Joe McGuire Legal Solutions, Community Independence Team, Trading Standards, Apetito, Wiltshire Farm Foods, Healthwatch, Hampshire County Council Carers Assessors, Home Library, Telecare, Smoking Cessation and Hampshire Fire & Rescue Service.
A key element for many carers is that they are able to bring the person they care for with them to the hubs and they are made to feel welcome. They and their carers can make use of the newspapers, crossword puzzles, games and jigsaws provided while taking light refreshments.
Visitors can also enjoy a healthy lunch, at cost price.
While each of the hubs is designed to be a focal point for the carers in its own local area, anybody within North East Hampshire and Farnham is able and welcome to attend any of the hubs.
Forthcoming Carers Hubs dates are published on the Princess Royal Trust for Carers website: http://www.carercentre.com/
