October 7, 2019

United communities came together for their third meeting of 2019 on Monday 7th October at the Wellesley Community Rooms, Aldershot.

United Communities brings together service users, carers, local support organisations and professionals from across the North East Hampshire and Farnham area to discuss local mental health provision, national and local priorities and new initiatives.

After a welcome from Steve Manley, Engagement Manager for North East Hampshire and Farnham Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), attendees received updates from Nick Parkin, Senior Commissioning Manager for Mental Health and Learning Disabilities. These included:

  • New staff member
Nick introduced Michael Scammell to the group. Michael has stepped into the role of Commissioning Manager for Mental Health and Learning Disabilities after Janine Sanderson became the Workstream Lead for Mental Health within the Frimley Health and Care Integrated Care System. The group welcomed Michael.
  • Outcome of MH Integration Bid
In April 2019 the group received a presentation from Janine Sanderson. This presentation outlined a proposed bid to be submitted to NHS England, in an attempt to secure new monies. These funds would be used to develop a new service, supporting those with mental health needs at a ground level across Primary Care Networks of which all GPs are now a part.

  • Surrey and Borders request

The group was told that Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust was looking for patient and public help in developing its new People Participation and Experience Strategy. An invitation to an event in November as part of this was shared with the group.
