Family health

We never stop learning about our health. From trying to start a family, throughout pregnancy, giving a baby the healthiest possible start in life, throughout childhood, the formative teenage years, through to adulthood and onto our older years and the end of life. It never stops.

In these Family Health Matters pages, you will find links for finding local sports and physical activities for everyone in your family, local scouts or guides groups, help for children and teenagers who need extra support with counselling if they are going through a difficult time.

Have a look at which has an excellent section on what to do if your child is very overweight, overweight, a healthy weight or underweight.

It is very important to make healthy lifestyle choices whilst trying for a baby and when you are pregnant.

“I am a man, I am fine and I never need to see a doctor.” Great! Let’s help you stay that way. How about an MOT! See the information about a free NHS health check.

It is important that you don’t stop looking after yourself as you get older and especially if you are a carer for someone else.

Make sure you see the optician and also have a hearing test if you have difficulty hearing.

Sexual health and contraception are sometimes not freely discussed so have a look at this page if you want to know more. There is a lot of free help available.

Use the links in the menu on the left of the page or below to access the specific health pages.
